hi,

i have had this problems for a few weeks now and getting fed up so came here to see if you lovely poeople can give me some ideas to help resolve this issue.

The problem i am having is that everytime a complex programme more such games like COD4, BF2, Crysis (even happens with i-tunes and internet explorere if i am on the for long enough) after like 10 seconds of being on them the game freezes, music chitters and the only way to stop it is restarting my computer by holding down the power button. After restarting it once or sometime twice the probelm does not occur again and disspears until i next turn my computer on.

Much help would be appreciated Thanks:):)

Hi, Can you list your specs. Mobo, cpu, ram, PSU please.

Also, are you overclocking it?

Has this problem always been there, or just started?

Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (3GHZ)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (GeForce 8800 GT) OLD Version.
2GB 5300 drr2
Asus M2N motherboard
Nothing is overclocked.
It just happend all of a sudden
Thankyou.

What power supply do you have? If it is a generic, cheap one that might be your culprit. I can't see why that should happen if your just listening to music tho. Hav you tried the obvious things like remounting your cards and checking cables are secure?

Run some hardware DIAG's on the HDD and RAM. Make sure you have the latest drivers too for all your hardware.

Check your CPU fan is working, possibly the CPU is overheating and shutting the machine down if not. If its not that get memtest86, burn to a CD and boot from it to test your ram sticks individually. Reseat any cards, check all connections. If all that is ok its possibly a PSU fault.

Also you could get UBCD (google) and test your Hard drives using MHDD32.
