Hi All,

I've had a read through some posts but haven't got any further to fixing my problem (if i can)

Basically, the router is in my front room i get a steady 16MBps (if that's the right abbreviation) no problem, however when i got into my bedroom (only 10 meters away from the router tops, but 2 walls and a floor) i get a 3MBps if im lucky. How can i go about improving my signal within my bedroom? as this is where most of the action happens!

Can i get a second router in my bedroom? Would this help?
Do i need to buy a better router?

any help will be grateful, even if its telling me theres nothing that can be done

Thanks,
tentpeg

p.s. didnt really know how to title this thread, so i put whats annoying me :)

You need to go ethernet or power line to improve things. Wireless is great for mobile devices but if you have a static device don't insult it with wireless.

And it is Mbit.

And it isn't lag. Your are talking about bandwidth. Lag is a delay in a transmission between you and a remote server, usually a gaming server.

Yeah i knew i got a lot of the terminology wrong ha ha,

how do you mean power line? Ethernet cable wouldn't be practical given the distant through the hall way ect.

Use a pair of adapters from here

Essentially one goes next to the router, the other goes in the room you want to extend the network to. The network signal is passed through the electrical wiring

Assuming the 16MBps (B = Bytes) in the original post was an error and you meant 16Mbps (b = bits) then any set of 200AV or 500AV Powerline adapters should be okay. If you think that you're likely to get a significantly faster connection in the near future then spending a bit extra is probably worthwhile.

A set of Powerline adapters will just give you more-or-less what an Ethernet cable would (but slower). If you want better wireless in the room you'll additional or different kit.
