Hi all
ive just bought a E6850 when i use cpuz or coretemp why does it show the
frequency @1999.89 core speed in cpuz showing @1999.9 also in cpuz it shows the multiplier@x6 in bios it says x9 atm cpuz is showing 1999.9
and core temp is showing it @2999.66 wht shouled it say?

core temp is showing frequency @2999.66 but mostley it shows 1999.9 or there abouts
 
It's something called speedstep. All c2d motherboards support it and all it does is throttle the CPU to use less power and generate less heat when you're not fully using it.

As soon as you do something intensive the multiplier will shoot up to 9x and you'll be using the full 3ghz the CPU delivers @ stock.

You can turn it off in the BIOS if you'd prefer to see 3ghz at all times. :)
