Hi,

It would help to give an idea of budget you wish to spend and if its for a whole system or just a cpu/mobo combo.

In terms of whats the latest:

AMD are currently on:

AM3+ for FX chips which are there higher end stuff.
AM2+ for APUs
and AM1 will soon get some new low end APUs as well

Intel currently are:

socket 2011 - for ivybridge-e however it will soon be replaced by socket 2011-3 x99 for the haswell-e range.
Socket 1150- which is the current mainstream offering of haswell, with a refresh due soon as well.

On a budget you look towards FX6300,FX8320 options from amd. If you have more money you look towards I5/I7 haswell options on 1150 from Intel.

i have a budget of 1.5k (will need cheap monitor or on offer in deal) mainly for Frames per second gameing system as the game i currently runs at 60 fps (2d game that has been upgraded), but i want to hit 60/61 fraps all the time with out decreaseing.

so i thought bout buying something like 1150 - IV asus extreme Mobo

for amd i hurd the fx 8570 is top dog for gameing.

I recently upgraded to an I5 4670k and have been very happy, well until i my mobo got bricked due to a borked bios update :(, on that note i reccommend getting a mobo with a dual bios :)

hehe your from newcastle uk, im from there also :D

if i was to take out that g card you selected, and put this in Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11227-03-40G) would it be better?

Best city in the world ;)

Well, there are two versions of the Sapphire card available. A 290 Tri-X and a 290 Tri-X OC. The OC version is overclocked out of the box, the other one runs at stock speeds. In principle you would be able to overclock the non-OC version yourself quite easily. But if you just want to plug the card in and play, you'd want the OC version: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-341-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752 .

The Sapphire and ASUS models are both fine. I just picked the ASUS because it goes with the black and red colour scheme

They will have the same 2011 socket but will require the new x99 chipset. It is not worth going 2011 for your budget and uses. The 4770k is enough with even twice the GPU power you have in the spec.

The Gigabyte OC board is better than anything else in the price bracket but is aimed at overclockers rather than gamers. It wont feature as good a sound chip but will have far more extreme clocking features. Gigabyte boards are incredibly reliable and IMO produce the best quality boards in that price bracket. I would recommend a g1 sniper board over the OC if you are more of a gamer than an overclocker and don't have a sound card.

^What He said :) If you don't mind the colour scheme not matching then you could get the sniper board and Sapphire card.

I would not go amd on this budget, fx are mid range cpu's, while kaveri is aimed at budget gaming builds.

Extra cash should be spent on better monitor over the rig. drop the PSU to a 650w gold superflower and the spend remaining cash on 144/120 monitor or a 21:9 monitor depending on your preference. the system can easily run off a 650w gold superflower.

The 650W Superflower is the same price as the Seasonic Evo, so not really much point in changing it imo.

Some changes to Lee's spec, partly in light of the new weekly deals:

The MSI 290 Gaming is on offer - the Sapphire no longer is. It also won't clash with the motherboard as you can't seen the red stripe when it is in the case. And it has a backplate.

The monitor is also on offer. It is 24" rather than 27", but that isn't necessarily a bad thing at 1080p. To be clear about the monitor: yes, you can get them for a lot cheaper - the extra is for the 144hz refresh rate, which will give a smoother gaming experience.

There isn't a great deal I'd spend the extra £100 on. You could get a 780 or a 290X, but performance would be similar to the 290 for £70-80 more. Personally, I'd just get some braided cables and LEDs to make it look a bit sexier.

A big 'No' to AMD CPUs at this budget.

I like this deal, but would i need to buy glasses for the monitor and what would u choose the Z87 Gigabyte or sniper ?>

Only if you want to play in 3d. People usually don't bother and the high refresh rate is mainly used for smoother movement and feel of play.

I had a choice between the Gigabyte OC and the G1 sniper. Chose the OC board because i do benching and a lot of overclocking. Figured the only advantage the g1 sniper has over the OC is the sound chip, which can be remedied by a cheap sound card which is on par or better and it can be fitted to the lowest PCIe slot which does not share bandwidth with the other lanes. If you are not into your overclocking, there is no reason to go for the Gigabyte OC over the G1 sniper.
