Confused on what Graphics card to get??

Hey i'm looking at getting a new PC but am totally stuck on which graphics card to get. I go through phases of when i game so not really a hardcore gamer.I play all types of games and play at 1680 x 1050. I don't always want the best graphics i'm happy at medium sometimes but do also like to set the graphics to high.

I'm looking at the following :

7600GT - Any gd in latest games?
8600 GT
7950 GT 256mb & 512mb
1950 Pro, XT 256mb and 512mb


As you can see i don't really know what to go for or how much to spend. I'm currently on a Imac 20' with a ati x1600 graphics and that has been fine for me but in a few games ive had to lower the resolution quite abit.

my budget MAX of 140 but only really willing to spend if the performance of a 7600GT is GREATLY improved. I also don't mind buying 2nd hand.

I would go for the 1950xt will power your screen much better than the others.

Don't discount the 7950GT, it's still a great card and will offer a significant improvement over the 7600GT.

Quoted for truth.. I've got the 7950GT 256mb and it's a bloody nice overclocker. Lovely card, and cheaper than the X1950XT.

I have a EarthWatts 500W PSU and ive heard people using more powerful cards on this psu so it should be ok for any of them graphics i assume.

Go for an XT but go for one with none standard fan on, because you think your house is going to lift off once it starts to spin up.

X1950, was probably the best card of the dx9 generation

I'd say look on ebay MM for a X1900XT you might be able to pick one up for as little as 80 and then pocket the rest
