My mobo is a mini itx Asus Maximus extreme vii.

What is the best cpu I can fit? (Don't worry about price) will Broadwell E work?

I think you've made a mistake though OP, there's no such thing as a Maximum Extreme VII. There's an Extreme VI and an Extreme VIII, but they aren't mini ITX. Maybe you mean Maximus VI Impact.

As for the googling yes I have tried that, it appears broadwell is supported I just wasn't sure whether this extended to the 'E'
