Hi guys,

I'm building a new cinema screen with a ceiling mounted projector and want to get the screen measurements correct.

I'm using the projector central calculator but not sure if i'm supposed to get the measurements in 16:9 or 16:10.

The GT750 GT projector says its 720p with a native res of 1280x800, would this mean i need to build my screen to a 16:10 ratio?

Also, would this mean all 16:9 movies / content will be displayed on the screen with a border top and bottom?

Thanks guys!

Unless you're going to play a lot of content that is natively 16:10 then I'd recommend you build your screen 16:9 ratio. There's two main reasons for this. First, most film, and TV and gaming is formatted to fit within a 16:9 display area. This means that there will be a small overlap above and below the screens 16:9 picture area where the projector's extra pixels fall, but there will rarely be any content in that portion of the display.

Second, you're likely to have your screen when you next change projector. The following model will probably be 1080p. It will have a 16:9 panel rather than 16:10

Many thanks, i'll go with the 16:9 ratio.

Is there anywhere you know of that can custom cut me a sheet of MDF to the correct size so i can paint!?

B&Q. You do know though that in standard sizes the biggest sheet size is 2440 x 1220 mm.

Yea noticed yesterday,

I think i'll just paint a section of the wall instead, and border it off with a black painted MDF border!
