Confused over Dell monitors

Last year at this time I bought a Dell S2409W monitor for my wife, and we are quite delighted with it. It cost a pound or two under £200.
I am considering buying a similar monitor for my parents, but it would appear that the Dell S2409W is now only being sold in the US, as the european site has no products which match the description, and the only one OcUK now have in stock is b-grade, which I don't completely understand. Additionally they seem to only give 14 day warrenty which seems somewhat sort no matter what product one is buying.

What are the alternatives to the Dell S2409W. I see a G2410 and a U2410, the U being twice the price, but the stats on the G suggest it isn't a repalcement for the 2409, more a sidestep. I also see the Dell SP2309W which appears to have a higher res than the old 2409, looks similar but obviously would be a smaller screen.

What do folks advise? Anyone got these devices?

The Dell S2309W is a great model and seems to be in stock. Unfortunately, monitors rarely stay on the market for long periods of time due to the way they are manufactured and distributed - and the rapidly improving technology; that is why you can't find the S2409W.

The "G" is an LED backlight monitor which uses less energy than ordinary ones, it can also be made extremely bright (though probably not using as little energy as usual) - the colours on it are amazing from directly infront but if you look at it from an angle it could be better, this effect is seen with most monitors though (TN panel technology) and is only slightly more noticable than with the S2309W.

The "U" monitor is part of their ultrasharp range, for professional graphics and image editing - or if somebody is willing to spend that much for gaming or general use - it uses a different screen panel technology that is more expensive to manufacture.

The difference between the S2309W and the S2409W from what I can find is that the currently available one is a tiny bit smaller (same 1920x1080 resolution but 23" rather than 24"), but it uses marginally more dense pixels - it could also look better as far as colour and contrast go but I can't find out online (specifications for monitors are very misleading).

The S2309W is an excellent deal and will probably suit your needs very well. 2 of my flatmates it and it looks great. However, the image quality on the smaller 2209WA is insane (out of stock again though). Personally I am looking to buy a Samsung SM2443BW for the slightly higher resolution. The Samsung SM2433BW is also excellent but the stand is very restrictive.

edit:
I wouldn't recommend buying a B-grade monitor as it may have dead or stuck pixels (within legal limits).
They tend to end up there if a customer returns them under the distance selling act due to the occurance of a dead pixel (though, you don't actually need any reason at all under that act). This practice is a bit unfair on the retailers, as with something like monitors there isn't anything anyone can do. If a dead pixel is anything more than an unnoticable black pixel or a few in the corner there is often a chance to have the manufacturer or retailer replace it, it depends though. Don't let this put you off buying a monitor, I have bought a bunch in the past and I know of many monitor purchases by people I know and I have never encountered any issues yet.

I thought the SM2443BW was discontinued.....

Well, OCUK are still happy to take money for it so I guess that means there is stock on the way? It is likely they are not being manufactured anymore though.
