Confused. Why buy an FX60?

I read you threads about buying opteron 146 to clock at the speed of an FX60, but for the fraction of the cost.
However, if I was to consider spending £800 on a CPU, would it not make sense to go for the opteron 154 for the same price and clock it to (146=2Ghz OC'ed 50% = 3Ghz / 154=2.8Ghz OC'ed 50% = 4.2Ghz). Surely this makes it the best CPU around.

(i doubt tyan server bords alow this) you technicaly have 8 FX 57s
My Tyan only allows me to change the memory. I use Nvidia Ntune to increase the CPU clock speed.

On another note I can fit 800 (Socket 940) series CPU's to the board, but WHY?

Edit: Btw, is there any way to OC the memory on a Tyan 940 mobo?

Tyan's bios uses Hammer Configuration. You can change so much I wouldn't know where to start. Unsure if this is because they only take ECC Registered Memory.

When I have changed the timings strange things happen. This is why, when I upgraded the bios, my Graphic cards overheated, now I have to use 77.77

Still unsure if there working at 2 x 16 speed?

But sticking to the original CPU thread starter, yes 200 & 800 CPU's will work in the K8WE. If you use a 100 series then you have no SLI.

EDIT:The K8WE forum has stopped, so I can not reference the owner who stated this. Sorry

I was looking at getting one of these dual cpu boards - will they run with just one processor so I can put another one in later, or not?

Also, is it possible to run two cpus of different speeds on one board?

And finally, just to check what I think other people have been saying, these kind of boards don't really allow you to overclock, is that right? (Cos 2 dual-core, watercooled, overclocked opterons would seriously rock!)

If you are on about the Tyan K8WE for instance, there are several others, then yes you can start with one CPU. But 2 CPU's are required for SLI. Overclocking the CPU is a big no no. I can change everything there is to change with the memory, but as I use Opteron 250's @ E4 stepping I am at max with the options. As mentioned earlier, the disk that comes with XFX cards allows me to OC the graphics and ntune allows CPU OCing. But to be honest I am playing Far Cry 1280x1024 all settings at very high with 8AA and anything else on and its smoother than a polished bottom.
Oh yeah, it cost a fortune. So far £3000, and still I have not even begun to max out.
