Confused with AMD driver's and product support

As I understand it AMD dropped support for cards 4000 series and under.

however the release notes for the 12.6 and 12.7betas list older cards such as 4000, 3000 etc as supported.

:confused:
 
AFAIK they just stopped doing specific fixes, etc.? still supported in the drivers just you won't see any more specific opptimisations or bug fixes for these cards specifically?
 
You will get compatibility and bug fixes every quarter, but once it works there will be no performance improvements.
