Confused??

Win8 as to compete against other devices, MS no longer hold the marketshare, the market shifted and MS was caught short. Not only is win8 set at a better price point, the licenses are also far less restrictive.
So you get a double whammy less cost for more.

Because it's not selling very well and win 7 is still popular.

Actually if you check the pricing its about the same(4 quid difference between Win8 and Win7 HP) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=33&catid=1555 ,the one in the first post is cheapest version of Win8 ie non-pro version so does not have all the features of Pro version

Overall Win8 is better value for money because you get improved security new features and free upgrade to Win8.1 .

Aren't even close to the same cost
Win8 oem = win7 retail or as close as you can get comparing the two different licenses, due to license changes in win8

I was comparing Win7 OEM to Win8 OEM in the link ,I know Microsoft changed what OEM is now with Win 8 etc..anyway moot point since I still recommended 8 as better value for money.
