I've been on to the shop to look at upgrading my Zotac 660ti card to a R9 290 after much advice.

The guy in the shop however is saying for the money I am not going to see any significant difference in performance.

What do you guys think as I am seriously thinking of abandoning the idea of upgrading.

Ask the guy what he's smoking, and that you want some

There is a review here and you can see the performance gain is quite a lot.

But though you have to think about the rest of your PC, perhaps the bottleneck could be something else

weird we linked the same thing. Even gaming at that resolution you should notice the difference, as you will be able to set graphics options higher, and notice less frame drop

I think I'll be ok with bootleneck, I have a i5 3570k and plenty of ram.

It's just whether to get this one;

My Setup

Phantom 410 case (new)
Gigabyte Z77-D3H MB
i5 3570K cpu
Samsung Evo 840 250gb SSD
2tb Seagate 7200rpm HDD
8gb corsair vengeance ram (1600Mhz)
Asus Phoebus sound card
Zotac 660ti GPU
coolermaster 650psu
Windows 8.1

Anyone know wherer I can get a 6 pin to 8 pin molex the psu should be fine but I need an adaptor

I was checking on that myself. I've got a 700w Cooler Master PSU myself and was looking into getting a 290x myself. Apparently it uses 303watts. Depending on his setup he might get away with it.

Hmm...cos i have the XFX 290 and it says on the XFX site 750W minimum and recommended is 850W ..yet the OcUK site says 600W or more lol.....and i was running at with a 750W ...so now thinking is that enough ..cos when i change resolution in BF4 the screen flickers a bit ...but not when I run my 780 with the 750W PSU

A good quality 600 is more than enough. Emphasis on hither GOOD quality.

The 850w recommended is to cover against junk bargain basement PSU'S.
