Confusing CPU temp monitor results

I have a core i5-4670K, using an after market air cooler.

Speed fan gives the following results at idle:

However RealTemp gives this reading:

Obviously there is somewhat of a difference between the two.

Which if any of these programs would you consider to be most accurate? If neither is there a free program that you would recommend?

Secondly, assuming one these tests is accurate, would you say that these temperatures are okay for idle? Ambient temperature was 22 degrees at the time of doing the tests...

I am a bit concerned having only just installed the cooler, that I may have applied the thermal paste incorrectly or something.

EDIT: Note this is at stock speeds etc. No overclock

UPDATE: I opened up my case and reapplied the thermal compound now RealTemp is giving me the slightly more satisfying reading of 30~ degrees with low to mid 50's whilst running Prime95

Sounds more like it :D , Haswell chips are hit and miss with heat. All you can do is keep it optimum and it should run pretty well for you. Good job.

An upto date Realtemp will give the more accurate results.

RealTemp 3.70 reads the 4th Gen Haswell CPU temperatures correctly. It looks like SpeedFan is using the wrong value for TJ Max. It is using 85C when it should be using 100C. That's why SpeedFan is reporting your core temperatures 15C too low. You can usually adjust this somewhere within the program or within the INI configuration file.

That version includes C State monitoring for the Core i CPUs.

The LOG word that RealTemp is showing means that your first 2 cores reached the thermal throttling temperature which is 100C. Were you doing some stress testing before you took that screen shot?
