Confusing speedtest results... poor F2S speeds

Hi all. I am with Freedom2Surf and suffering from really bad speeds at the moment. It never used to be this way. I am paying £22.50 for an 512 line with "unlimited" bandwidth. I am trying to troubleshoot the issue but I still cannot contact F2S tech support and the various speed tests I have tried give me mixed results (nothing is downloading in the background during these tests).

The ThinkBroadband speed test reports the following:

BT SpeedTest reports:

Have tried resetting router, upgrading firmware, swapping routers, changing cables and filters etc... nothing works. The ADSL is fed directly from the master BT socket and the wiring has been checked. All is well. I can download from fileplanet, microsoft, various other sites at full speed... torrents, P2P stuff, FTP, other websites even just browsing can be painfully slow... to the point where even a MODEM would be faster :(

Is traffic-shaping or whatever it is called to blame?

So what am I to do? Any suggestions?

I'm getting strange results also... I've only been connected to virgin adsl for a few days, but I'm sure it should be faster than this?

My router is telling me this:
DownStream Connection Speed 7520 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps

Well, I only changed over today... I'm gonna wait a few days to let it settle down. Is your router on an extension cord or anything like that?

Power-wise yes... :p The ADSL cable is really short and is connected to the master BT socket. Everything has been swapped at least twice, using different hardware, cables, filters etc... :(

Heh, my router says the same thing no matter what download speed I am getting...

It will - you're on fixed rate.
It's possible it's traffic shaping. If you've checked that everything's fine at your end then there isn't much more you can do bar complain to your ISP.

MikeHunt79: Try the BT Speedtest.
