Hi

Apologies if this had been answered countless of times before, but I'm having a problem with the forum search not working on my tablet.

I know the principles behind vsync and adaptive vsync , but I'm struggling to work out what is the best solution to use with my 980gtx. Many articles regarding this are a few years old so I'm not sure if they remain relevant.

I've recently being using adaptive vsync to avoid the vsync stutter due to a fps drop (I believe it drops to 30 even if the drop in reality was only to 59), however this solution generates tearing on occasion.

I've read that triple buffering with vsync is another possible stutter solution due to the additional buffer. Question is can this be forced on direct x games today? I understand the option on the NVCP is only for Opengl.

Any assistance in helping decide the best option for reducing vsync stutter would be great. It's never really bothered me in the past, but it is my current ocd gaming annoyance.

Thanks

Unless you really can't deal with the tearing adaptive is best for smooth/responsive gameplay - various options like triple buffering can help to reduce how often you run into major framerate swings with vsync but often your just trading on paper framerate for increase input latency or other potentially just as undesirable side effects.

Sounds like a gsync monitor is what you are really looking for.

Thanks for the reply, I will stick with variable and start to take a look at GS monitors.
