i'm on sky max & looking at my speed it's dropped from around 12Mbps to 7.5Mbps, just phoned them and been told that their running a test on the line to see what speed it can achieve.
we've been with them for nearly 2 years so why would they do a test now?
stats are listed below:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7616 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 36.0 db 22.4 db
Noise Margin 15.5 db 14.0 db

Sky have recently implemented DLM (Dynamic Line Management), which is what they're referring to. It can not only change the sync and target SNR, but the interleave delay and depths too. That said the few people I know on Sky have had their SYNC lowered since DLM came in :(

I don't know too much about it TBH as I'm not with Sky. But looking at your stats (under 8 megs SYNC and an SNR over 15dB) it looks to me like you've been put onto ADSL1 (G.DMT). Ring back and try to get through to level 3 (Customer Solutions Team I think they're called now) and ask.

will have to do that 2moz, as i was told that the "testing" would have finished at midnight tonight. if have been put onto ADSl1 then i will not be happy as perents are paying for max package which is ADSL2/2+

Hit - Nail - Head :)

I've also seen that too - I've heard of quite a few people having problems with skys new DLM system.

The system itself is nothing more than Sky's version of BT's Rambo line monitoring tool which continues to monitor the line to maintain optimum performance -In's Sky case this can take 8-10 days apparently.
