I play PS4/Xbox One when everyone's gone to bed, so I'm looking for a half decent set of over ear headphones to wire up to my Denon X2400h amp to listen to the games, microphone not necessary as I don't do multiplayer.

I'm currently using a set of Monoprice DJ style headphones, they sound decent enough, but I want something with bigger ear cups to go over my big lugs...

Had anyone got any recommendations please?

You can pick up a pair of AKG K702 professional studio headphones refurbished for £60. Phenomenal value for how good they sound, great headphones for gaming as the soundstage is nice and wide, and the details are so clear. They need an amp to drive them properly so you're golden :)

They sound perfect, thank you, they look to be out of stock at that price on the competitor website I've found them on, but they're available to pre-order, so I'll do that and hope they come back into stock soon.

Just bought a second hand set from another forum with an upgraded cable, can't wait to try them out.

On a side note, would anyone recommend using a dedicated amp rather than my current Denon? And i assume I could connect one to it somehow? Thanks again.

With a games console as the primary audio source, I think a headphone amp would be overkill.

The AKG 702 'phones are a low-impedance set (62 Ohms). This means they're not the sort of high impedances 'phones (150-600 Ohms) that would really benefit with a robust headphone amp driving them. At 62 Ohms, they're compatible with a lot of small portable devices. For what you're doing, they'll do just do fine off the headphone-out of the Denon.

That's good to hear, thank you, I'll use them as they are for now, and if I decide to start listening to more music with them at a later date, I can always look into an amp. :)
