I'm looking for the best way to connect a Nvidia Shield Pro to Sennheiser HD660S headphones. Will mostly be playing back Dolby Vision content from my plex server. Was previously a PC for playback, though that can't do Dolby Vision, so moving to a shield Pro.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. So far I've had the following recommendations:

1. Buy a high end AV receiver, which comes with a headphone amp (chain would be 65"C9 > AVR > Shield via HDMI 2,1) - seems most expensive, especially if not using the AVR for speakers?
2. Buy a USB DAC - much cheaper - though what's the quality like?

Product recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Interesting problem. If the Nvidia shield pro has LDAC bluetooth as a sound output (it seems it does but I cannot say with certainty) then you can use a portable DAC/AMP like the FiiO BTR5 or similar and connect from that to the Shield Pro via bluetooth LDAC with the headphones connected 3.5mm or 2.5mm ports to your HD660s.

Advanced MP3 Players a good place to buy with 10% discount code 10%OFF50. Theres a whole host of other decides you could use like FiiO BTR7 all the way up to DAPs like Fiio M11 Plus / M17 etc which obviously has other purposes and will drive your headphones better.
