connect imac to tv ?

my imac is in one corner of the room and id like to hook it up to my hd tv, i have a hd>dvi cable but its only 3metres, do i just buy an extension ? will i loose quality, any other better methods?perhaps wireless?

DVI is digital so it either works or doesn't. Max cable length is 4.6M.

VGA is better for longer runs but tends to get fuzzier with length unless you use quality shielded cable.
