hey,

Want to connect my pc to my tv as a secondary monitor. The tv has a VGA and HDMI input and is capable of 720p. My graphics card has DVI output. Would I get better quality on a DVI-VGA cable or a DVI-HDMI?

Cheers, Dave

Depending on the graphics card you might be able to get sound through your TV, should you wish if you use DVI to HDMI Converter -> HDMI Cable -> TV.

I am assuming your TV is "HD ready" since you said it is capable of 720p not 1080p. This means you will get a maximum of 1366 (or 1368) x 768 cant remember the exact res.

ok I will go for the DVI-HDMI then.

I guess this would be better quality because it is a constant digital signal rather than converting down to analogue with a VGA?

Would there be any difference at all?

Thanks, Dave

DVI/HDMI is nearly always better quality than VGA. The quality of the picture depends on the TV quality and the graphics card.

i am looking to use a nvidia fx 5200 with DVI out to a HDMI 720p HDTV

will i have any issues with getting the card to output to the 720p resolution

1366 or 1368 x 768 (cant remember the exact res)
