Hi, I've advised a friend to get a Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail from O/Clockers. The problem, well it might not be, is that he's using an oldish 19" CRT monitor. When I bought my x1950 Pro, I had a Iiyama 17" CRT monitor, unfortuantely the monitor would go into standby mode as soon as the PC was switched on so I bought a NEC 20WGX2. I must admit that I got the gfx card as it had just been released and so the catalyst drivers weren't really the best. My question is will the Connect3D card work ok with my friends CRT monitor with the later drivers or would he get the same issue that I had ? Many thanks

Computer say's NO :p just found out the CRT is 7 years old and doesn't support the refresh rates/resolutions so thats a no go !

Hang on buddy!
My 19" CRT Monitor went into standby after the windows loading screen but before the login screen. It was solved by turning the power to the monitor off totally then booting the PC until I thought it was at the login screen and then turning the monitor on after that it started up and I could change the res etc. Strange, but it worked and I know other ppl have had the same problem. Hope it works for you :) I've got the sapphire version BTW.

omg. thats the exact problem my m8y has with his x1950pro. hes got a crt and everything. dear me, did ati forget that some people still use CRTs?

the way he fixed it was to use his gfs new monitor.. heh, however i will tell him about that way to see if that works. hes tried everything..
