Connected my 8800GT to my HDTV but no signal! Help!

Hi i've connected my Inno3d 8800GT to my LC42xD1EA HDTV with a standard DVI-D to HDMI lead but can't get a signal!
Do i need a DVI-I to HDMI lead do you think or doesn't it matter?
Have tried everything but run out of ideas!
