connecting 2 switches together

Hi

If I have a unmanaged 24 port switch and I need more ports, to add another 24 port switch is it just a case of taking a rj45 cable from one of the ports on switch 1 to one of the ports on switch 2?

Ye, but some switches might not be able to auto-negotiate their ports so you may have to use a crossover cable.

If its an old switch, I would stick with using a crossover cable. I tend to use the very last port on both switches for this purpose also.

You also need to bear in mind that traffic between the switches will only go at the speed of the slowest of the two ports - so if you're shifting much traffic between the switches, you might want to rearrange what's connected to each switch.
