Well I have a Netgear DG834PN, connected to Be, and then later Be sent me their own wifi modem router, now I don't have enough dosh for a switch, and there are 2 360's upstairs and the DG834PN is downstairs, is there a way I can connect the DG834PN to Be's router so then I can connect the 2 360's to it?

interested in reply to this thread, have an old linksys wired router that iv got everything plugged into, but just got a laptop and want to use wireless, so am trying to plug the wireless linksys into the wired to broadcast the wireless.
reason i dont just use the wireless for all is because its unstable and a bit rubbish tbh.

So far iv tried setting the one that isnt hosting the net up to connect to static IP of other one, and manually added all the isp DNS stuff - no luck though, started to try and do the DHCP but no luck again..

there is a way to do it with some routers, not sure about all though. One of these has a setting which allows the router to be the gateway(default setting where its hosting the internet) and another setting for it just to be a router(another router manages internet connection) or something along those lines. shame one of mine's web interfaces has stopped loading :(

How were you going to connect the DG834PN to the BeBox?

If it's wireless, you need the DG834PN to work as a wireless client (which AFAIK it won't).
If it's wired just connect the two of them by one of each router's switch ports. Disable DHCP on the router you want to be just a switch, and you're done.

thats not working for me, is there a way to connect the one connected to internet to the one i want to broadcast wireless through it's WAN port? would have thought that would be the one to use?

OP did this work for you?

You could if the wireless router is a "cable/DSL" router, but it becomes a mess with NAT, so it's not the easiest option...

both the routers are cable/dsl, as iv always been an ntl/virgin/telewest customer :) hmf!! gave up atm and plugged the wireless back in to see if it is more stable now, it goes through bad patches.. i think its female!

Howw about giving it some custom firmware? Should give you a lot more options. Assuming it can be done. Either DD-WRT or Tomato.

its one of the old B routers, so theres no custom firmware avail afaik.
Dont rly wanna shell out another £20-30 on a router to be honest either.
