Connecting 360 on the cheap!?

Can anyone tell me whats the cheapest way to connect my 360 without buying the wireless adapter, the wireless router is on the ground floor and im in the loft so cable is out of the question. However i do have a laptop (xp) and pc (kubuntu) in my room which both have wireless. Ive had a go at bridging the network cards on my laptop but i lose the interent once it is activated ive trawled through the guides but they dont have any answers. is there anyother way?

Hook the 360 up to either PC or Laptop via Ethernet and enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) If either your PC or Laptop can connect to the net then your 360 can after enabling ICS.

The only downside is that your PC/Laptop will need to be switched on if you want to play on Xbox Live.
