Connecting 360 to PC problems

A friend is trying to play music off his PC on the Xbox360. He can connect to Live ok, but can't access his PC. I'm guessing it's a network / sharing problem, but he says he's 'shared' the music folders etc.

He connects his 360 to a Netgear wireless router via the ethernet cable provided and his PC wirelessly to the router. Unfortunately, he's lives too far to pop around and have a look......

Any ideas ?

im having the same problems, the windows media connect sees the xbox but the xbox doesnt see my pc :/

Ran the test's from system blade?

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the Firewall I was using on my PC (Zone Alarm).

I had a load of firewall issues before getting it to work correctly with Media Centre and Media Centre Connect. So fiddle with the firewall stuff until it gives in

yes, using media connect. Although on my setup I can play music from PC without media connect ( media connect just doesn't want to work on mine ).

He can't do anything.

I believe he's run the test, and is ok until it looks for computer and it can't find one !

I ahd a simialr problem and the media test wouldn't run and show the sharing as working.

However I found a topic on the xbox forum which suggests that you you ignore the tests, go into media and select the songand , hey presto it suddenly worked for me.
