Connecting a 1080 source to a 3007fpw?

Nope not without an upscaler/converter, and youll be lucky to find one - this monitor was built as a monitor only.
If you cant find an upscaler, you could alway run the xbox through your computer (if you have a good enough video card with a highres input)

i have a 7950gx2 card. it has 2 dvis and 1 svhs. afaik the svhs is output only
to do it that way, wouldnt i need a tv card that can accept a decent res input? would have to be 16x9 too. dont know any cards that can take 720p res
i have the option of using my projector (720p) but would like to try this way for ease of setup.

yup if your gfx card is a 7950gx2.. then i think your out of luck using the computer to route the signal - if it were one of the newer ATI all in wonder cards then i think that would have the connections needed - You could try a TV card, but im not sure exactly how this would work - you would need to fake it into thinking your xbox was a tv channel..
It looks like your out of luck for this one, unless you find an upscaling box which can do the dells Full res (which im guessing will be highly unlikley)
If you have a projector which can accept the 720p then i think thats your best options.. as it will be considerably bigger than the 30 lcd anyway.

Sorry if this sounds extremely dumb...
Isn't there an option to do this? On my 2405 it's main menu > image settings > scaling, sounds like it is currently on 1:1, you want to choose aspect.
Or it may be the 30" has no such option because the scaler required would be too big, in which case a posh graphics card with appropriate inputs (digital) would probably be the cheapest solution
