I have an Antec truepower 750watt PSU and a new 480gtx should be arriving today.

To connect it an 8 pin and a 6 connector are needed.

I'm guessing that the 12v4 or 12v3 PCI-E connections (that are red) on the PSU are required to connect the 6 pin connector? Which of these do I use or doesnt it matter

Can the 8 pin (6+2) then be used directly from the PSU?

Would the PSU be able to handle 2 x 480s in the future. I think they take around 250watt at lead each

It would seem the PSU has 2 x 6+2 pin PCI-E power cables hard wired and 2 x 6 pin PCI-E modular cables.

Use one of the 8 pin cables hard wired to the PSU and one of the modular 6 pin cables to share the load over the PSU rails.

You really need a good 850W+ PSU for SLI'd GTX 480's.

Thanks.

I currently have a [email protected] and 2gb memory. I imagine I will upgrade my whole system before I get a second card. Just annoying I bought a 750watt psu not long ago from here and I doesnt support SLI (even though it says it does on the box and when I bought it)

Maybe by that time, there will be a new card that uses less power

The PSU does support SLI and Crossfire it just depends on what cards you're using.

It would be OK for 2 x GTX 570's or 2 x HD 6950's for example.

It could possibly run 2 x GTX 480's but you'd be really pushing it and that's not good for the PSU.
