Hey folks,

I’d like to connect up a SNES to my S90C OLED, what’s the best way to do it? Do I need a simple analog/hdmi converter (I see lots of cheap ones for sale) or something more sophisticated?

Cheers!

I've still got an old TV that has SCART, so I use the component cable with a simple component to SCART converter. If you don't have that have you tried using the Aerial out and plugging that straight into the back of the TV? (I don't know if that will work, but it'd be worth a shot)

On my Gamecube I use a CARBY digital converter which outputs HDMI. Maybe there is something similar for the SNES?

It depends..

I think the cheapest solution that's worthwhile is https://retrogamingcables.co.uk/SUPER-NINTENDO-PAL-GAMECUBE-N64-HD-RAD2X-HDMI-CABLE but it then relies on your TV to further upscale. Which may or may not be fine.

I have https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk...pal-super-nintendo-super-famicom-gamecube-pal and it feeds into an https://videogameperfection.com/products/open-source-scan-converter/

That version of the OSSC is old now, and there are other options. There's the OSSC Pro and newer RetroTINK scalers.

The reason that they end up costing so much is that they do the upscaling without ruining the image or adding lag. Latency makes a lot of games on older consoles unplayable as precise timing was needed for jumps and such.
