I have a set of Logitech speakers that I currently use on my PC and I'm trying to find a way to also use them for my PS4 as well. Would something like this enable me to connect both PC and PS4 at the same time?

and then use this for the PS4 connection?

My thinking is that the speakers go in the female end and then this splits off to the PC and PS4? I'm struggling a bit to get my head around whether this will work or if the input/output direction is wrong. I'm probably approaching this from entirely the wrong way. :(

The connection to the speakers is a 3.5mm male connector.

The PS4 has HDMI but there's also optical, but I'm just using HDMI at the moment.

this is very ghetto year 2000 stuff, go optical from the speakers to the tv. job done it will pass through the sound to anything that would normally go to the tv.

Its a monitor though, not a TV. I share a monitor between PC and PS4.

So if I go the optical route what adapters/cables do I need to output to the speakers? Optical to 3.5mm phono?

You're going to end up with a spiders web of cables to do it.

You would need to output optical from the PS4 into a digital to analogue converter, then the converter outputs either 3.5mm or L/R RCA and plugs into a audio switch box, along with your PC. Then an output from the switch box to the speakers..

Could just plug the 3.5mm directly into the controller and change the sound config of the PS4.

May not be the best audio quality but considering what you have to work with it wont be bad by any means :)

Meh, seems like a pain. I'm tempted to just get a second monitor/TV instead with built in speakers and use that exclusively for PS4. Its annoying to switch source all the time anyway.

I use this method - From the DAC box I have 2 x rca to 3.5mm jack and it works fine

The way i did it with mine. I had this prob when i got the Ruark mr1's i wanted to use them on my tv aswell as PC speakers but there was no way of doing it through a soundcard so i had to get a Muscial Fidelity V90 dac which is better then a soundcard anyways and connect the speakers to the dac and get optical cable from the DAC to the TV So i could switch the speakers from usb for sound on the pc and switch it to optical to get sound from the speakers for tv
