hi,

having just set up windows home server, i now need more ports and higher speeds on my network. i thort that a switch would be the right way to go. am i right or being completely stupid?

if so, do i just plug the switch into the router and it will work?

if not wat do i need to do?

cheers

ah good cheers, dont need to worry bout ip conflicts or anything? so i would just plug one of the routers LAN ports into one of the switches LAN ports?

thanks

should work automatically.

You can even save yourself buying one if u have an extra router lying around, they can be turned into switches rather easily.

thanks, i dont have a router lying around, so that option won't work.

can anyone recommend a good 8 port gigbit switch?

was looking athe d-link dgs-1008d <<< any good?

cheers

Plug and play. No speical cables, nothing. I myself have Router - Switch - Switch (Couldn't be bothered to run MORE cables through under floorboards etc.
