Hi all,
Currently my router sits upstairs on the desk next to my PCs.
I'm wondering if I could move the router downstairs. Both to shorten the phone cable and remove wires running down the stairs and through the house.
However upstairs I currently have a wired network that connects 4 PCs, a NAS and XBOX and a Gigabit Ethernet switch. Now the NAS and the PCs with Gigabit Ethernet go through the Gigabit Switch and then into the router, while the other PC and XBOX (and Gigabit switch) connect to the router (DG834GT).
Can I do it and what would I need in order to move the router downstairs and get the wired network to talk to it? I don't want to lose the Gigabit switch as it's handy, so don't want the entire network wireless.
Do I need/can you get, a wireless access point (or something) with 1 or more wired Ethernet ports that can act as a connector/extender/bridge between the wired network and the wireless router?
Thanks.
