I have a Xonar Essence ST soundcard nd currently have hi-fi seperates. I'm considering active monitors for music listening as heard a friends KRK Rokit 5s and they sound great for the price.

I was considering some a bit beefier like the Rokit 8s or maybe something a bit more expensive like Mackie HR824mk2.

How would I go about connecting such speakers to my soundcard? The Xonar has RCA connectivity and S/PDIF. Review here - https://www.stereophile.com/computeraudio/asus_xonar_essence_ststx_soundcards/index.html

Typically RCA-RCA cable, for yours you'd use two RCA cables, one for left, the other for right.

Some active speakers may have digital inputs, but you'd need a soundcard with multiple discrete digital outputs.

Thanks.
Its just they look confusing at the back sometime with things such as XLR & EVA which i have never heard of. If RCA is still the standard, thats great as I use RCA > RCA currently

Studio monitors will generally be connected to a mixer or external DAC, so the use of XLR is pretty common.

If the Rokits don't have RCA, you may have to go RCA to XLR.

Edit... Looks like they do have RCA.
