how do :)

i know you can connect your phone to bt recievers in cars, and you can get ipod adapters (i used to have a pioneer one, which incidently was pap) - anyway, i was wondering if any manufacturers produce a headunit / adapter / anything that means you can plug in your iphone and have a decent interface for the music and the phone side of things?

if you combine this with a docking holder of sorts which you could then put it in so you can see the GPS while driving it would be a formidable bit of kit...

i thought maybe the top end pioneer models (X3 and the like) might but they dont :(

is there anything?

I can't think of anything. You mentioned GPS so that's the 3G iPhone. Some company must have seen the potential so I'd just keep checking the Apple site after it launches.

Whether the products will be any good is another question.

well, with the gps i just meant havin a holder would do the job but i guess you're on about outputting the GPS interface to a screen... not a bad idea i guess...

had a think about this, and i'm thinking if you get a headunit with the bluetooth phone connection a standard ipod interface then it'll all be connected up just fine wont it?

so essentially, a decent headunit with the above features + a decent iphone holder to fit it to the dash and you're pretty much kitted up... no?

Yep - bluetooth for the phone part, iPod adapter for the iPod part. Should work.

BMW, Audi & Mercedes (possibly others) have integrated it nicely. Seems gone are the days when it was a glorified CD changer interface where CDs 1-6 picked playlists 1-6. These new systems can browse albums and artists and operate all the phone functionality too.

Just need some more money, and I can buy a new car!
