Alright all?
I'm considering betting a 360 over the uni holidays and was wondering about something. I've heard rumours that the wireless connection on the 360 is pretty rubbish, hanging all the time and being a pig to set up. (Plus, £40+?) Would it be possible to connect a 360 to the internet via an ethernet cable to my pc?
I've got a PW5 DH mobo, which has a lot of wifi and network related gubbins which I've never really paid much attention to before, but do you reckon it would be possible? I seem to remember that it can operate as a hub, but I'm not sure if it can do so from an incoming wifi signal instead of a direct connection.
To clarify, I'm in a uni flat, top floor of an old tall terrace block. The wireless router is on the bottom floor, next to the only phone point in the house. Due to the massive antenna I've got hooked up to my comp I get a pretty decent contant signal, so moving the router/hooking up a long cable from 2 many floors down isn't an option, plus I'm dubious that the 360 dongle would even pick up a network at this range.
On a slighly different note, do you have to use Media Player/Media Centre to stream content to your 360, or are there any less evil, more friendly 3rd party apps that I could try? (I'm a big fan of Power DVD, for instance)
