Connecting Audiophile 192 and speakers?

So i have my new audiophile192. But i don't know where to plug in my speakers. There's S/PDIF In and Out, Midi In and Out, then three white jacks and three red jacks. I have a single mini jack for my speakers (Logitech Z-2300) but unsure where these go. Do i put a small-to-big adapter on them and put them in one of the jacks? If so, which one?

Cheers

The card is quite a professional one, so it uses balanced connectors which your PC speaker set does not have. I'm not sure if there are any implications to treating a balanced output as an unbalanced one, but what you need is a 2x6.35mm mono jack to 3.5mm stereo socket splitter. I'm not sure where you might find one these, you may need to assemble one yourself.

It's a shame you're connecting such a good soundcard to such poor speakers and amplification :s

A 2x mono 1/4" male TRS -> 1x stereo 3.5mm female TRS cable is what you're after.

The 192 provides both balanced and unbalanced outputs, but I doubt you'll notice any difference with those speakers.
The balanced 'monitor outs' will probably be best, depending on the routing options you pick in the Delta drivers.

so with these cards, would they be best for me to plug into my stereo amp? also i mean how do these compare for playing MP3's through proper speakers, and what about using your PC Cd drive compared to a proper CD reader

I'm going into town to buy the needed adapter for it today but out of curiosity, what would be a better speaker system? I love the Z-2300's, their sound is awesome but what would be better?

Well, the card you have is a professional or at least semi-pro card. It is designed to be paired with high quality studio monitors or Hi-Fi equiptment. I don't know what card you had before, but you might not hear a huge difference with those speakers. Btw, that adapter doesn't seem very common, I couldn't find it on a site that sells lots of studio cables and adaptors (might be a competitor though) so I doubt you'll find it in town unless you have a specialist shop there.

You may need a combination of adapters (which is a shame as every additional connection introduces interferance).

Something like a 2 X Mono 1/4" Male TRS -> 2x 2 X Mono 1/4" Female TRS plus two 1/4" -> 3.5mm adapters.

As long as you go to a decent electronics dealer they will be able to make up the cables for you if they don't have them in stock.

You would be *far* better off hooking this up to a real hi-fi system.
The good news is that an amp and speakers wouldn't set you back too much at all - especially if you go 2nd hand, or maybe even go to Richer Sounds.

Hi-Fi inputs are usually RCA jacks, so you would need 2x Mono Male 1/4" TRS -> 2x Mono Male RCA jack.

I use this card for my PC set up - driving active near-field monitors.

The cables and adapters will depend on whether you an external DAC (I am at the moment).

I had no difficulty obtaining 2 x 6.5mm jack to phono adapters, or mini jack to 2 x phono adapter or 2 x 6.5mm jack to phono cables.

I'll be getting a Stereo 6.35mm Female Jack to 2x Mono 6.35mm Male Jacks and put a Stereo 6.35mm to Stereo 3.5mm on the Female Jack so my system can be plugged in.

Could you recommend any good amps/speaker set ups? How much would they cost overall? I'll research some hi-fi FAQs and things later as i don't really understand them fully right now.

You'll need to set some sort of budget, then we can help you choose something in that range. If you do fancy getting into Hi-Fi, it might be best to start a new thread about it.
