Connecting BBC Micro to a TFT monitor?

This thread was inspired by the CRT TV thread :-)

My 30-year-old Beeb monitor was a CUB, then last year, the tripler went bang. That means a blurred image rendering text unreadable. Now I'm looking to hook the Beeb up to my Dell Ultrasharp 16:10. It has VGA, DVI, DisplayPort connections, and I have an HDMI converter if needed. (yeah someone needs shooting for not including HDMI on a 2012 high-end model!) So, what else will I need to get the Beeb going? At 16:10, would the image be stretched to 16:10 or will it show as 4:3 with the letter box effect? Is a native 4:3 TFT preferred? (in which I can get cheap from the pawnbroker's)

P.S. should have added that the Beeb has a UHF-out for TV the so-called RGB 6-pin port for monitors.

Thanks.

I think you can get a VGA converter for it, I'm sure I've seen them for such computers as I think it was a relatively simple adaptor.

This should do the trick ... google search "9 Pin Male to 15 Pin Female VGA Adapter - WEB ONLY"

Thanks guys, especially for the links and search query. Will have a gander at these :-)

Still a massive fan of the Beeb here, and got a couple of Rasberry Pi's too which are regarded as the spiritual successors.

Wow are JS still going, I purchased one of their RGB Scart to VGA boxes 12 years ago and it did a fantastic job. Still got it in the garage somewhere I think.

They certainly were last year, a mate has a couple of BBC master computers as he used them to sort a few problems with one.

Site is still active so I assume there still at it. :)
