Hi,

Long time lurker after a bit more advice please? My son has uncovered our old camcorder. A Canon MV850i and wants to look at getting some of the old MiniDV stuff we have onto his PC and then DVD.

We have a PC (OCuk built) with:
MSI B450M Mortar (Socket AM4) DDR4 mATX Motherboard
PowerColor Radeon RX 590 Red Dragon 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I understand I need a Firewire connection which I don't think this setup has?

What type of card do I need to set this up? I'm assuming a PCIe? And there would be space on the MSi to fit this? No other cards in the PC. I've seen some that have 3 different Firewire connections?

And are there likely to be issues connecting this up in Windows 11?

Any advice most gratefully received.

Cheers

Ahh that's useful. So I def need a PCIe type card? The one you link to is a preorder. Bit pricey as well but suppose cheaper than sending all the tapes off to be done.

The cable I have looks like the bottom connector on the card image.

Apologies. I was sure I'd replied to this. I picked up a cheap PCIe card. Bit of a tight fit as right next to the graphics card but it seemed to work. Followed various guides re drivers needed and kept getting a blue screen when trying to install. Tried various bits of software with no joy then found Debut Video Capture Software which just seemed to work! Video successfully captured.

Thank you for the help.
