Connecting current USB HDD to TV for Media possible?

Quick question really - don't know if it's possible but endless google hasn't helped too much.

I know there are "media" harddrives out there that allow you to connect the harddrive to a TV and have software to run the divx, etc files on the TV.

However, is it possible to achieve this with the USB harddrive I already own?

Note that my harddrive is a "passport" sized one so I doubt it's possilble to put that harddrive into a "media" enclosure to use as a media harddrive.

only if you have a DVD player/BluRay player or Tv that allows the playback of media stored on USB devices. if not then no it is not possible.
