Howdy,

Pretty sure I already know this, but I want to confirm before I buy.

I have a Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem Router which has a 4 ports on it. Well I have used all them up and I need at least another 2 ports soon, so I just want to confirm how I connect a switch up to it.

I'm gonna get the Netgear FS608 8-Port Fast Ethernet Switch @ http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-101-NG&groupid=46&catid=115&subcat=419

Do I just need to connect the FS608 to the DG834 via a standard ethernet cable, and that it? Then I can just use the remaining 7 ports on the switch, and the other 3 on the router and Im away? Or do I need to do something else?

Also, as I will sit the switch on top of the router, can you get really small ethernet cables? Or is 1m the smallest you can get?

Thanks

Correct.

Not sure. I've not seen any shorter than 1m.

Ok cool, Ive got plenty of spare ones knocking around, just have to use a 1m one.

Thanks Gilly!

you may want to be carefull about placing the switch ontop te router, i know mine get quite hot, so youll need them to be well ventilated.

Yeah on top/next to it, Ill see. My router doesnt get that hot tbh, but Ill see.
