so just bought a new gaming pc...here are the specs (Might be relevant to how well it will work with the tv)
new i7, 16gb of ram, 1tb hard drive and 2 duals gtx 770's
this is the pc i got but modified it with extras http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-049-OG&groupid=43&catid=2475

i have a samsung hd tv. here is the model: Samsung UE22H5600 22-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p

question is will my desktop work out of the box with this tv if i simply connect an hdmi between the two? or is there a setting which i need to turn on using a normal desktop monitor (which i have) to allow connection to an hd tv?

thanks,
tom

Thanks for taking the link down. Personally i would go for a monitor because the TV is most likely 30hz so you would not benefit from the second 770. Something like this would be a great option so you can take advantage of both 770's as it is 144hz and has a 1ms second response time:
YOUR BASKET
1 x AOC G2460FQ 24" Widescreen 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor - Gunmetal £169.99
Total : £179.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Cheers for the info. Can you google the TV model I linked cause I looked up the tech specifics and it's bloody confusing. It's definetly not 30hz but don't know how many hz it is :s

so basically i will get the benefit of the second 770 but might notice a delay in response timings compared to a monitor? sorry for all the questions but this is my first proper gaming rig and up until now I've been part of the cult of apple.

thanks

All you will see a delay in response times, but the TV wont be as good quality as a monitor

William-Mathew's responses are quite confusing tbh, I'm not sure what his points are.

You've got two pretty powerful GPUs here driving a pretty low (by today's standards) screen - 1080p. Even in graphically demanding games they should be doing 70+ FPS, so one concern with this TV is that it doesn't have a high enough refresh rate to make the most of the GPUs. If it is in fact 100 Hz then that's plenty, however that figure might be with some proprietary interpolation mechanism and not a true figure. Those motion smoothing features usually look cack to me and get turned off.

The second consideration with TVs is lag and ghosting type issues that can make games difficult to play. How bad a TV is at those will vary from model to model so all you can do really is give it a try. Many gamers stayed with CRTs for a long time after TFTs became affordable because of input lag.
