I want to get one of these new breed of ultra portable laptops, such as the Asus EEE, Acer Aspire One or MSI Wind.

Question I have is can you connect these to your television for playback of stuff, such as things on YouTube, avi's etc?

Thanks,

Jon

just need one of those vga s-video converter box things, mates got one where it has vga and s-video inputs (maybe more) from say a pc and then it converts it to scart (and a few other formats) :D ill have a look for the one he has but not too sure if ill be allowed to post it, if i got the the manufactures site i think thats ok :)

*starts hunting*

You should get a Svideo to Svideo lead if your TV has an Svideo in port or you can get a Svideo to scart of composit, you will need to "force detect" the TV though.

yea thats what i did with my laptop but mine had the s-video out and i dont think the eee's do. also i found that i had to get a s-video to composite adapter so i have the:
PC=>svideo cable=>svid to composite converter=>comp cable=>scart adapter

due to the face that i could only get black and white when i tried the s-video on its own..... tried different setting but nothing worked so dont know if it was cos my tv was a bit old or what :p

Decided I will be getting an MSI Wind, which has a VGA output and USB too.

What would be the approx cost to get the required cables so I can watch stuff on my Plasma?
