I would like to do the above but have no idea how to do it?

Can someone give me some advice on how to get started and what do I need?

My PC connects to my router via wireless, I want to use my 360 on live but have no wireless adaptor. What do I do next...?

Thanks!

I use a Linksys WRT54G router in bridge mode, works fine no problems that I`ve seen ? See if you can pick one up cheap you may need to install a third party firmware but thats easy enough.

I have a Netgear DG834GT with 3rd party firmware.

I'm just wondering how do I set it up?

Do I use a crossover cable to connect it to my PC?

The instructions seem weird. I'll give it a shot, surely I should just be able to make sure internet sharing is enabled on the PC then hook up the 360, give it the correct IP, subnet, gateway and DNS!

If that easy then cool.

Can I still use the PC whilst the 360 is connected to the net?

Do you use a crossover cable for connecting the 360 to PC?

I can always use the net whilst using the 360, no issues

IIRC its a standard ethernet cable, I really can't remember lol,

If you have a spare cable try it, and if it doesn't work you know what you need

Like I said it's an easy way to do it, not perfect as obv you need the PC on when you want LIVE

Yeah, will try either cable. I always have the PC on anyway so it should be ok. Cheers

Huh? your only connecting a PC to the wireless bridge to configure the wireless bridge.
Then you connect the 360 via a cable to the wireless bridge, which in turns connects to your wireless router wirelessly (is that a word? lol).
No connection sharing or x-over needed ;)

I'm confussssssed! I thought youconfigured the bridge within the PC?

yeah your getting confused with "bridging an internet connection" and using a "wireless bridge", which is a bit of hardware; sometimes called Wireless Repeaters, amongst other things.

Yeah I am getting confused between the two.

I wasn't wanting to by any hardware I purely just wanted to share my wireless internet connection on my PC with the 360. If this isn't possible without buying hardware I'd just buy the wireless adaptor. Sorry for being a noob! :o

you don't need any hardware, ignore the people just trying to make it more difficult, have you tried what I suggested, and did it work?

Not at home yet buddy, off for my lunch at 12!

Will try later tonight, my 360 is on live at the mo using a wireless adaptor but I have to give that to my other GF tonight :)

Everytime I try sharing the ethernet connection it resets the LAN to 192.168.0.1 which is my router address! So the network picks up an IP conflict. How do I change this?

I'll have a think (do some tests) once I finally figure out what is trying to be achieved in this thread!! (It will come to me).

(Without thinking what you are trying to achieve, I would say change your router to be 192.168.0.254, but then you would have to change any devices on your LAN with static IP addresses, and also renew any set for DHCP)

Dude, I have the same firmware as you now, so can you tell me how to do that? I tried doing it before I then couldn't connect to the internet or anything.
