Recently swapped to Vodafone as my ISP, however having no end of bandwidth issues which I didn't have before. The ISP speed is the same it's just streaming everything appears stuttery.

I still have my old router that I used to use with my Plusnet broadband a Netgear R7800 which I used to have QOS setup and everything was fine with Vodafone there is no way to setup QOS.

Can I use the vodfone box as just a modem and connect it to my netgear to handle all the wireless, wired connections (I have part of the house connected via a wired CAT 6 switch) and also QOS, if so how do I do it?

Am total network newb so any help appreciated - oh I have my vodafone user and password details.

regards,

Matt

If I wanted to use that router, I'd grab a secondhand Openreach HG612 VDSL modem to use with it. Under £20 and still a viable option all these years later.

How were you using it with Plusnet? Their routers don't have a modem mode so you must have had something in place.

There's no way in hell I'd move from Plusnet to Vodafone. Saving a few pounds isn't worth it.

It's been a bit of a mistake really, but was annoyed at Plusnet with their service when I had an issue.

Previously I had the plusnet modem, plugged into the ethernet port on the Netgear.
