Hi,

I recently played Mario Kart on a mates wii and it brought back many hours of MarioKart 64. So I dug out my N64 and went about trying to connect it to my Dell 24" via composite. Now I'm not big with connections etc. I have the Red White and Yellow cables, which I presume are composite? Anyway I plugged the Red and White into my X-Fi Front panel and got sound immediately. However when I plugged the yellow plug into the socket on my Monitor, it did not display any image. The composite Icon was flashing top left of my monitor as if it was tying to detect a signal but got nothing. Pretty gutted actually.

Does anybody have any Idea why this is happening? and why the image isn't displaying?

Cheers

That should work fine, although it won't look great. You did change the input source on the front of the monitor?

Yeah, nothing doing. As I said it appeared to be searching for a signal, by kind of refreshing the screen but nothing appeared. Guess it will have to run on the old TV then via scart. Was just curious more than anything. So if it did work you reckon it would look pretty pants on the ole monitor?

I had a similiar problem with my SNES via composite on my 2001FP. Wouldnt work with an N64 compo cable, does work with a GameCube compo cable? Weird but true!

TV it is I guess, my flatmate has a decent CRT so that will have to use that.
I don't want to end up buying another lead just to get it working. Bit miffed though as the sound is running through my X-Fi and it does sound rather rooty toot! Ah well.

thanks for the replies chaps.

Hmm not sure what you guys are doing but my Wii, PS3, PS2, gamecube, N64 all work and look perfectly fine on my Dell 24" unless im doing something strange and dont know it. All with composite bar the PS3 (and now the PS2 as I have a 60Gb PS3 so have BC)

Hmmm might be my lead then, it worked fine through my TV. The Audio works belta, so dunno. My 360 works fine on composite and VGA. I do know it don't work though. Was going for a Retro gaming week. Crank up the old jack bond too.
