Connecting PC to TV help needed

Im using a load of leftover PC bits with the intention of building a PVR type machine that i can watch TV on as well as playing DVD films and using Media Player ro music.
The system is up and running fine on a PC moniter and the TV is connected to the TV out on a Leadtek GF3 200ti.
The problem is that when i change the output to TV the picture is so blurred that i cant read the text in the driver panel so as to fine tune the settings.
Does anybody have any advice on how i can use this kit to get a sharp picture on a TV and what settings to use.
Im using Windows 2000 by the way.
Would a PVR/TV card allow me to get a good picture on the TV?

you cant get a decent picture on a normal tv, sorry. Not if you dont have windows media center edition.

When a DVD is played in the PC it looks fine on the TV, do you mean its just windows that will look crap

Yes. When you use mce the video wont fill the screen if your tv has curved sides.

But what if the output is via a TV Card?

It'll work full size with tv programs, if thats what you mean.

I've heard a way to solve this is to remote in to the PC over VNC with a laptop and use that to tweak the settings.
