Hi,

When I got my BT line connected and then hooked up with Bethere broadband I was getting an amazing 1.92 MB constant download.

However, later i worked out that the only live phone socket was the master one. I have now had the other 2 sockets activated and I can only get a constant download of 1.61MB

I know this is still really quick but just want to know if this is common or whether the socket connections have been done incorrectly.

I have 3 sockets, 2 have phones connected (both with a microfilter). The socket without a phone connected has no microfilter. The modem is connected up to the master phone socket.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

When you wired up the new sockets, did you include pin 3? If so, remove it. You only need pins 2 and 5 for ADSL and phone :) pin 3 just adds noise, lowering the sync speed.

Yep, pin3 or the orange (normally) or ring wire as they call it is not required when you use a adsl filter on your line, just picks up noise and degrades your SNR.

ok...I opened the master socket up....
I didnt wire this thing up because I cant see colour and my camera doesnt do clear close up pictures or I'd ask you to look. However...I think all four were connected: white with blue bands, white with orange, blue with white and orange with white. they all loooked different to me.

What I did do was connect directly to the bt line (the little socket behind the socket) and was getting an average 1.87MB on 3 torrents

I put the filter back into the ordinary socket and it's gone back down to 1.61MB

I'll get someone who can tell colours to have a look cos you've probably hit the nail on the head.

Cheers
