Im a bit confused on how to connect up my case power buttons to my Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS board. The sockets on the wires are labeled as + and - but the manual for the board dont make it clear how these should connect. Some sockets are labeled + and - but another is labeled Power and GND. Would the - go into the GND? (ground I assume).

It's a switch. When you press the button the two ends of the wire are shorted together. You can achieve the same thing by shorting the two motherboard pins together with a screwdriver or any other metal object.

So there isnt a danger if I get these wrong? First time building and I dont want to see it go up in smoke

You are correct, the - on the connector does denote ground but don't worry, it won't go up in smoke if you happened to fit them in reverse and the switch will work either way.

Enjoy the new build :)

For the sake of sanity. Black wire is usually -ve and red wire is usually +ve.

if you look at the plastic headers very closely some of them even have + signs on them.

but generally, those connectors make no difference in terms of polarity.
