Im picking up a PS3 tomorrow morning and was hoping to connect it up to my DELL 2405 FPW via the DVI port.
Ive seen a HDMI TO DVI cable, which looks like it will do the job.

Could anyone confirm this will work for my setup, and will I get proper HD from my PS3 using one of these cables?

BTW, im aware this will give me visual and not audio, but I understand I can output audio to my amp for sound.

Any help, much appreciated.:)

what i do is connect is using a HDMI to DVI cable, as you said

This will give you 1080p, since most 24" monitors are 1920*1200, Im pretty sure anyways

but it should definatly work

No, the Dell 2405 does not have HDCP so an HDMI to DVI cable will not work. You'll need a device like the HD Fury which will strip the HDCP, unfortunately this is quite expensive.

im 110% sure it will work, because thats how my ps3 is connected

Just make sure your amp can connect to the audio cable

OH right now i get it, sorry!

if you monitor has a little sticker or in the manual somewhere saying its HDCP enables, then it should work

sorry, misunderstood somehow

Find out the specs for your monitor. If it is HDCP enabled it will work. If not, it won't.

Aye, it's just down to that really. A quick Google reveals that the 2405 is not HDCP compliant, therefore a PS3 will not work when connected with HDMI to DVI cable.

As mentioned, a device like an HD Fury is required in this instance.

Problem fixed!!!:D

Just been on the phone to a friend and sold the DELL 2405 for a decent price.

Have decided to pick up the NEC 24WMGX3 from OCUK tomorrow.

Hope the NEC is all its cracked up to be. Just read some reviews on it, and seems it does everything I require from a LCD and more.

Been reading about the HP LP2475w as well, but by the looks of it, I think the NEC is the way to go. Hope Im right?

Shame OCUK dont do the BENQ FP241W, heard lots of good things about it, and for the price difference over the NEC and HP, it seems very attractive.

What you reckon! I'll be selling the DELL tomorrow morning, and I havent got a spare to use, any advice?
