Hi
after a bit of advice for an assignment which ive got stuck on. the task is to connect windows 7 to server 2003 both of which are running through virtual box. now ive set my domain up in server 2003 but each time I try connecting to it I receive the error message below
Windows7.png

now im not to sure what I need to change or what options I need to specify in the dns part of server 2003 to get it working and was after some pointers in the right direction as after spending a couple of hour googling I cant seem to get it working thanks

A quick test might be to enter an address in to the hosts file on the 03 server and have the win 7 machine ping that address to see if it resolves correctly. There might be some funkiness going on with the VMs which is limiting connectivity perhaps.

obviously the server ip will be static and in the IP properties of the network connection, the primary DNS server will be pointing at itself.

then on the client (win7), the ip address will be on the same subnet as the server with the primary DNS set to the server IP. that's all i've ever done to get this sort of thing working.

thanks for all the help.
I ended up reinstalling server 2003 again and setting it up again. it then worked the first time around. got a feeling I might have changed something major trying solutions off google
